CAREGIVERS'
SUPPORT
Sisters Patricia and Sheral offer Saturday
gatherings quarterly for those caring for an
elderly or infirm spouse, family member or
neighbor. Please contact either of them for
information.
FILIPINO-AMERICAN
GROUP
The
FilAm Group is open to ALL FilAm members of the
Parish and ALL their friends. Meetings are held
every 2-3 months, depending on scheduled
happenings. FilAm is involved with social as
well as religious and spiritual activities to meet
the needs of our members and of our parish. There
are three devotional practices that the FilAm
sponsors and proudly celebrate every
year:
|
|
1)
|
|
Flores
de Mayo is celebrated to honor and
commemorate our Blessed Mother in May. A
flower offering by the children of the
parish takes place during a special
11:30am Mass, with reception among
friends and the St. Robert's community
after the Mass.
|
|
|
2)
|
|
San
Lorenzo Ruiz, the first and only Filipino
saint, is honored with a nine-day novena
held at various member's homes,
culminating with a special mass on the
Sunday closest to his feast day, September
28th. The mass is followed with a
reception in the Hall.
|
|
|
3)
|
|
Simbang
Gabi, a nine-day schedule of masses before
Christmas. This is a beautiful cultural
tradition to prepare for the Christmas
season with reception and fellowship
following each mass.
|
Another
important activity that FilAm members are involved
is our "famous" lumpia booth during the St.
Robert's School Festival. This is an important
activity for the school to which FilAm members cook
and sell lumpia and other Filipino dishes to help
with fund raising for the school.
Also,
FilAm members have a very active choir that sings
during the 11:30am Mass on Sundays.
FilAm
is a very active and committed group of
parishioners, and we definitely welcome new members
dedicated to our common fellowship for St. Robert's
parish.
