Meeting called to order

Approval:

The minutes of the December meeting were approved.

Attendees:

Father Ring, Judy Watt, Mary Shick, Mike McGuigan, Dave Harders, John Marty, John Compton, Maureen Wallace and Bob Juaregui.

Action Items:

  • Maureen and John C. to write newsletter for Wednesday envelope. Include: How school holidays are chosen, ask for publicity assistant, and a recap of the Dec. & Jan. meetings.
  • Mary and Bob to meet and sort through their binders to consolidate and create a master 'chair' binder.
  • Dave, John C., and Bob (the sanitation engineers) will meet and make a recap of hiring maintenance worker.
  • John C. will discuss with Gary DeMartini to put Parish Fundraising Binders onto discs and will put more info on the Parish website.
  • Bob to send John M. a copy of the 5 year Plan and also meet with Mrs. Bordin to discuss the 5 year Plan.
  • Mike will meet with Mrs. Bordin to plan budget.
  • Dave to safety inspect Hennessy Hall. (Phone and outlet)
  • All: read and comment on the 5-year Plan for Feb. meeting.

Old Business:

  • Mrs. Watt passed out a balance sheet for the school budget and the pay range guidelines from the Archdiocese for hiring a maintenance worker. This worker would be a person on staff, 6 hrs/day, to handle daily problems. A nightly janitorial service will also be hired for nightly cleanings.
  • Parish Fundraising Binders still need to be located.
  • School Board committee binders need to be updated.

New Business:

  • Bob and Mary are stepping down from the School Board as per term limits. Two new candidates are needed for 3-year terms. Elections will be in early May. Possible candidates with distinct qualities and qualifications should sought out by the March meeting.
  • Bob discussed the Campaign for the Parish Building Plan. The campaign will solicit pledges for the next 10 weeks, to be paid over the next 5 years. Construction will begin June, 2002.
  • John M. discussed the Scrip program and said it is picking up.15-20% ahead of last year.
  • John C. is working on getting more publicity for the school. He is looking into having newspapers photograph students for Catholic School's Week. It was suggested that a subcommittee be made to assist in the publicity. People who can do advertising and be a liaison with San Bruno Cable to have the Students of the Week published on channel 11, like in the past, should be sought out.
  • Dave explained the traffic pattern in the morning is going well. Fr. Ring is in the process of getting the parking spot on Oak, (between the church and the parking lot driveway) to be painted white for loading only.
