Meeting called to order

Approval:

The minutes of the November meeting were approved.

Attendees:

Pat Bordin, Father Ring, Mary Shick, Mike McGuigan, Dave Harders, Bob Jauregui, John Compton, John Marty, and Maureen Wallace.

Action Items:

  • Father Ring to help in the locating of binders for the various parish committees and to have each committee become responsible for their own binder.
  • Make it mandatory to have each Chair of each committee write a report and have the binders checked out and sign name
  • Update School Board binders. Need to find/create binders for Safety and vice-chair.
  • Bring five-year plan and review it for January meeting.

Guest Issues:

  • Wearing shorts from Thanksgiving to Spring
  • Hour sheets: clarify how hours are earned and recorded.

Old Business:

  • Information regarding Plan A Tuition got good feedback. Parent's reaction was that it would be taken seriously. Father Ring needs to follow through to make it an effective plan.
  • Regarding the maintenance worker, Mrs. Bordin is talking to other principals for ideas. The Human Resources from the Archdiocese is helping with a job description and salary. The position may be available September 2002, if budget permits.
  • The Campaign and the Appeal will be a combined fundraiser in mid January. The fundraising will be geared towards the entire Parish. Father Ring wants the School board to assist in this fundraising by verbally showing support.

New Business:

  • Kindergarten Application and Interviews
Father Ring asked for four (4) School Board Members to interview perspective kindergarten parents. Bob Jauregui and Mary Shick will train and work with Maureen Wallace and Dave Harders in assisting with the interviews.

Perspective kindergarten parents will be asked: "Why are they interested in the Parish?" and "How do they see themselves involved in the Parish and School?"

Father Ring values input that is summarized from the family's interviews and recommendations.

Needs to be explained that the church participation is important (plan A Tuition)

Each interview will be 20 minutes per family.
  • Hennessy Hall needs spaced cleared around public phone near the kitchen. Dave Harders will clear area.
  • John Compton talked with Gary DeMartini regarding the Parish Web Site. He will add the School Board Members and minutes.
  • Families who went over their Scrip requirement should be acknowledged in the newsletter.
  • Involvement in school and Parish committees is documented and does aid in the application to High School. Both the Principal and the Pastor fill in recommendations.
  • Mrs. Schoeller's May meeting for incoming kindergarten families should clarify service hours and hour sheets.
  • Potential individuals who may be interested in next years School Board.
