Dear Parishioners:

This past weekend God called home two wonderful parishioners — Jane Lambert and Bob Creely. Both Jane and Bob contributed of their time, talents and treasure to our Parish for many years. Jane was part time member of our Parish staff and Bob served for many years on the Finance Committee. For the past nine years, they shared their wisdom with me, and I will be forever grateful. Please remember Jane’s husband Joe in your prayers and the children of Bob.

It is time to bring a partial end to the Annual Appeal for the Archbishop. We are at the moment over $11,000 short of our goal. I still hope that more individuals and families will realize the importance of this annual drive. Only twenty percent of our registered parishioners contributed. I begin to wonder who will provide for me in my retirement, aside from the increase needed in funding for the training of future leaders of our Church - clerical, religious and lay. We will still place a short note in the bulletin each week as to how much we are short and hope that it will catch the eye of those who have not yet made a sacrifice for a good cause. As I mentioned in an earlier notice, we need volunteers to help with the campaign for Catholic Schools that will begin in September. As of the moment, only one couple has volunteered to help. I hope that as I provide you further information, you will see the importance of building up an endowment for our schools if we are not to price out the poor and the working class. My personal congratulations to the graduates of St. Robert’s School. I have followed your progress since you were in Kindergarten and have great hopes for your future. Follow Jesus and you can’t go wrong.

Sincerely, Father Ring

"Communion From the Cup"

On this Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ, I could write much more than could ever fit in this corner, so let me simply say, "Do this in memory of Him." Holy Communion has the power to put into effect in your life precisely what it signifies, and it signifies a deep, profound unity with Jesus Christ. Through the Cup you will be drawn into the sacrifice He made of his life (to the point of giving his lifeblood), and you will make a sacrifice of your own life. You will also be drawn into the sweet, intoxicating joy of the eternal life he possesses. You will be drawn into the community, the One Body, that shares the Cup with you. If you believe this, then take and drink.

The goal for the Archdiocese is $30,000,000. The aim is to provide tuition assistance of $1,000 to one thousand families each year. The campaign begins in September.
