Dear Parishioners:

This week it is my turn again to write a message in the Sunday bulletin. So here goes. This time around I’m going to write about some important happenings that will take place here at St. Robert’s this Fall.

Coming up in September, is the 50th Anniversary of St. Robert’s School. School opened on September 4, 1949. Through the years, over 1500 children have passed through the doors on their way to high school. A one-day celebration is planned for Saturday, September 11th. Many activities are on the drawing board, but we need each of you to pull out your family scrapbooks, class lists, old school and sports uniforms, and gather any other memorabilia that you might find. Please give the rectory a call and volunteer. We have jobs, both big and small. Most of all, we could use your help...many hands make work easier. And it’s fun, too.

Every September we have our annual Parish Festival. This year the theme will be "The Greatest Show on Earth". Sound like fun? You bet. But it will be a better experience for you if you get involved. Join in and volunteer. This is your Parish, your festival and we all benefit, both financially and socially.

Another fall activity dear to my heart is RENEW. Each season of Renew focuses on something different and the 3rd Season, starting in October, focuses on Ecumenism and the welcoming back of Catholics. Start praying now for the strength and knowledge to help "Welcome Back" our friends. You will hear more about this later on.

And the list of activities goes on. They happen, but not without your involvement. Get involved....You will be glad you did. Folks sometimes ask me why do I stay involved here at St. Robert’s? So I answer, why not? St. Robert’s is my Parish; my spiritual support, my community. Do I need to say more!

St. Robert’s is alive and well. God Bless.

"Communion from the Cup"

To drink from the Cup during Communion is riskier than to eat the Host. To share a cup is an intimiate act which makes us vulnerable in some ways. Is this not how we share in the Death and Rising of Jesus? - Pat Kelly

For all who are suffering from illness and pain. May God’s mercy be upon them as they place their trust in Him.

There must be a thorough catechesis on the Gospel of Life at all levels of the Catholic community...The call to conversion must ring out in your homes, in your parishes and in your schools, with complete confidence that the Church’s teaching about the inviolability of life is deeply in tune with both right reason and the deepest longings of the human heart.
