(During Fr. Ring’s recovery, the members of the parish staff will be writing the pastoral letter. Today’s letter is from Sister Mary)

Dear Parishioners:

As we begin the Lenten Season, let us take a little more time daily to pray, make the necessary changes in our lives, and grow stronger in our faith. This is what the church invites us to do each Lent. It is what Jesus did. We read in today’s gospel that Jesus left His family and friends, went out to the desert where He prayed and fasted for 40 days. We all live busy lives, so now is the time during Lent to slow down a little. The Scripture Readings provide many thoughtful messages to help us observe Lent more prayerfully. On the Fridays of Lent, our parish will be offering the Stations of the Cross in church at 6PM, followed by Soup Supper in Hennessy Hall. You are invited and welcome. Regular attendance at daily Mass is encouraged, as well as some fasting and sharing what we have with others are all good ways for all of us to be in touch with God this Lent. If we adults stay in constant touch with God, especially through prayer, very likely the young people whose lives we touch and influence will do likewise. Jesus assured His followers that His power came from God. Sometimes we attempt to make the journey on our own. We forget to tap into that power that comes to us from God. The Lenten Season reminds us to do just that. Blessings and thank you.

Sincerely,
Sister Mary O’Donnell
Director of Religious Education

MASS MUSINGS

"Be An Active Listener"

Look up. No, not at the ceiling. Look up above this article at the Scripture references (Book, Chapter #:verses) for the next Sunday’s readings. Even with the best proclamation of God’s Word on Sundays, it can be difficult to get something from the readings because they are read just once and then we move on. Take a look at the readings before Mass, ask the Holy Spirit to help you listen well during Mass, and then open your ears and heart to Christ during the Liturgy of the Word. Even when you know what to listen for, you may be surprised by what you hear! - Pat Kelly

For our sisters and brothers whose decision it is to be washed in the Sacramental Waters of Baptism. May they experience the support and love of our Parish family.

RENEW FOCUS
"DECISION"

We pray that our political leaders will decide for Life. As the National Council of Catholic Bishops have stated in "Living the Gospel of Life: A Challenge to American Catholics": "No Appeal to policy, procedure, majority will or pluralism ever excuses a public official from defending life to the greatest extent."

ANOINTING MASS
"Heal the Sick!"

Jesus has charged His Church to take care of the sick by accompanying them with Her prayer of intercession in His Name. St. Robert’s celebration of the Sacrament of the Sick will take place on Sunday , Feb. 28th at Noon Mass. All who are experiencing the affects of aging and all who are ill are invited to receive this sacrament.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS

On each Friday during Lent (except for Good Friday), Stations of the Cross will be held in the Church at 6:00 p.m. A priest will be available for Confession during Stations. A Lenten Soup Supper will follow in Hennessy Hall. This is a light, sacrificial meal and an opportunity for members of our Parish family to get to know one another. Please put into the basket what you would have spent on your usual Friday dinner. Your donation will allow our St. Vincent de Paul Society to feed our sisters and brothers in need.
