PARISH BULLETIN |
Dear Parishioners, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and that the presence of Christ will continue to be in your hearts and in your homes in the New Year. During the past year, God has blessed our Parish in many ways. I pray that we will continue to grow in our love of God and of neighbor in 1999. Thank you to all who helped make our Advent and Christmas Season so special. In a special way, I want to thank all those who helped with the Liturgy, from the altar servers to the ushers. I also want to thank those who worked behind the scenes from those who worked so hard with all the lighting to those who worked on the mailings. The number who helped is truly "legion" - thank you. On January 6th, I am scheduled for surgery on one of the discs in my back - the procedure is called laminectomy. Although the time in the hospital is relatively short - three to five days - the period of recuperation is long. As a result, I will have to be away from the Parish (at least from active work) for three to four months. No, it is not a long golfing vacation - in fact, it looks like no golf at all! After eight years of being your Pastor, I will miss seeing you and your constant support. I ask that you keep me in your prayers during this period (especially to keep me from being bored to death). I know that you will continue to help and cooperate with the priests, the sisters and the Parish staff in continuing the wonderful work of the Parish. I will make sure that you will be informed as to how things are working out. God bless.Sincerely, |

MASS MUSINGS |
Its quite a story, really. Astrologers in the East see a bright, new star and, believing in its significance, follow it to the faraway land of Israel to pay homage and give gifts to the newborn King of the Jewsnow the King of their hearts. The gifts are rich, to be given to a poor, simple boy and his family. The gifts of our family are bread and wine, poor and simple, which we bring before God, Who Is rich beyond compare. I wonder, whats our story? From where have we journeyed to come to the Lords Table? With whom have we traveled? What sacrifices have we made? What stars have we followed? What Word have we believed? |

RECYCLE YOUR CHRISTMAS CARDS |
We receive so many beautiful cards and dont want to throw them away. St. Judes Ranch for children, 100 St. Jude St., Boulder City, NV 89005, can give your old cards new life. They need "All Occasion" cards, too. The money they earn by selling these cards goes toward field trips and other events they could not otherwise afford.
