Dear Parishioners,

On behalf of all the parishioners of St. Robert’s, I want to thank all the men and women who worked so hard to make the Parish Festival such a great success. Jesus called us to share of our time and our talents with others. You certainly lived up to His command. However, next year we have to talk a little more to Jesus about the weather situation - rain in September! Thanks also to all who contributed to the Festival - prizes, donations etc.. May God bless you. Congratulations to all the winners.

This week we begin the RENEW program. It is so encouraging to me that almost two hundred people have signed up to participate in the small groups for the next six weeks. I hope that all Parishioners will pray each day for the success of the small groups and that each and every one of us might be RENEWED by Jesus Christ. I hope that many more will join the small groups during the next season of RENEW which will be during Lent.

Sincerely,
Father Ring

MASS MUSINGS
"The Sacredness of Gathering"

God makes our gathering—our coming together as community—sacred (holy). Some days I don’t feel too holy when I’ve had a particularly difficult week, or I’ve failed something, or I’m just tired because I was up late the night before. But that’s when the teaching of our faith is so valuable . The bishops of the Second Vatican Council remind us that we are the PEOPLE OF GOD, the BODY OF CHRIST, and the TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. By virtue of our Baptism, we are intimately a part of God’s sacred presence in the world. We are a sacrament of love. It’s both a tremendous gift and responsibility. We show that we accept our own holiness by caring for one another, especially for strangers among us.

As we enter the House of the Church and bless ourselves with holy water and the Sign of the Cross, let’s remind ourselves of our Baptism and of who we are. Realize the holiness in yourself and the people surrounding you. Believe it. Live it. CELEBRATE IT!

RENEW 2000...COME AND SEE

How might we rediscover God in our lives? Like the saints and mystics, we do not discover God so much by shutting ourselves away or merely reading about how to become holy. Rather we find God in our everyday lives, in our everyday experiences. If you would like to participate in a small faith-sharing group or as an intercessor, please call the Rectory Office at 589-2800. Join RENEW!

RESPECT LIFE

SUNDAY....Today , in parishes throughout the United States, Catholics are celebrating life...Life from the first moment of conception till the last breath is sighed. Human life deserves respect since it is God’s gift to us. Let us affirm the goodness of God’s creation by valuing the unborn, providing for the poor, rooting out causes of violence and war and protecting the elderly and infirm. The red rose imprinted upon our Pro-Life banner hanging in our church symbolizes life at all stages. May it help raise our consciousness about the wonder and awesomeness of all human life.
