Dear Parishioners,

Once again I want to emphasize important programs and events that are happening in our Parish.

First, there is still time to sign up for RENEW. In preparation for the Great Jubilee of the year 2000, the Church is calling upon all people to enter into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and His body, the Church. I invite not only you to participate but I ask you to invite other members of your families, neighbors, friends. At this time of crisis within the nation, we all need to look deeper into our own Faith. What do we believe? Do we put our Faith into practice?

Second, I cannot emphasize enough the importance of the Parish Festival to the fiscal health of our Parish. The profits generated by the Festival make possible many of our most important programs - our Parish school and our Religious Education program. Please participate. The Festival also gives us a chance to work together and to socialize with one another. So plan to come and make the event a great success.

We always welcome new parishioners. I want to thank a few parishioners who have moved from our Parish this past month.

Bob and Barbara Parina, Dan and Margaret McCarthy, Erma Voight and Vera O’Connor

Please pray for them. I hope their new parish is as great as St. Robert’s.

Fr. Ring

FEAST of ST. MATTHEW, APOSTLE AND EVANGELIST - 9/21

MASS MUSINGS

"We, the people of St. Robert’s Parish, come together as a family of faith and prayer." Is that sentence familiar to you? It is the first of the parish Mission Statement. We have recognized the importance of coming together—gathering— in faith and prayer. It says something about who we are! The Acts of the Apostles 2:46-47 tells us that the first disciples of Jesus gathered regularly in Jerusalem:

They went as a body to the Temple every day but met in their houses for the breaking of bread; . . . they praised God and were looked up to by everyone. Day by day the Lord added to their community those destined to be saved.

RENEW 2000
PRAYER FOR THE NEW MILLENNIUM

This week let us pray - Enable us to recreate our world and restore justice.

RENEW 2000...COME AND SEE

How might we rediscover God in our lives? Like the saints and mystics, we do not discover God so much by shutting ourselves away or merely reading about how to become holy. Rather we find God in our everyday lives, in our everyday experiences. If you would like to be trained as a facilitator or open up your home for the 6 week meetings, please call the Rectory Office at 589-2800. Join RENEW in the Fall.

ALTAR SERVERS

If you have not already done so, please return your Altar Server Application to your teacher or the Parish Office as soon as possible. Anyone who has not received an application, who is in the 6th grade or above, registered at a Catholic School or in St. Robert’s Religious Education or Confirmation program, and wishes to join this ministry, please call Gene or Anna May. Training will take place in early October.
