As we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost, we remember how the Holy Spirit continues to work in our world and in our Parish. God’s Spirit has enlivened our Parish and helped us continue to spread the Word of God in our world. This week I would like to mention the importance of Sister Columba Galvin, P.B.V.M. to our Parish community for the past eight years. Through her, God has worked many miracles for countless numbers of people. For five years, she served as Principal of our school. During this time, she gave special effort to make sure that the children heard the Word of God and came to a fuller understanding of the Eucharist in their lives. I know that there are hundreds of children here at St. Robert’s (not to mention the thousands she influenced in her many years of service in Arizona and Southern California) who will be forever grateful to her. For the past three years, Sister has served as a Pastoral Associate of the Parish. Here she helped with the Parish Liturgy, the RCIA program, Baptismal Preparation, Returning Catholics and with numerous other programs. She has truly influenced the lives of all of us with her love as she continued to do the work of the Spirit in our Church. Sister has now decided to return to Ireland to be closer to her family and to continue her work in the area of Retreats. She will leave at the end of June. This Monday night Sister will be honored at the Men’s Club monthly meeting. If you would like to join in this tribute, please phone the Parish Office (589-2800) to let us know you are coming. I am hoping that Sister will give us permission to have a reception for her after a few of the Masses during June.
