Twenty-Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Parishioners

Today we celebrate Catechetical Sunday nationwide. It is the occasion when we as Church publicly honor our parishioners involved in teaching Religious Education classes, Children's Liturgy of the Word, Baptismal Preparation and RCIA. The theme for this years Catechetical Sunday-Sowers of God's Peace-is a timely one. We live in a time where war is not uncommon and terrorism threatens the lives of people around the world. The image of sowing the seeds of God's peace and love offers us both a sense of comfort and hope.

Today at the 9:30 a.m. and again at 5:00 p.m. Liturgy we will call forth the men and women who generously give of their time to teach in the various Catechetical Ministries in our parish. We are very grateful for the gift they bring to our parish life. Hopefully you are present at one of the two Masses to join with the celebrant in Commissioning Ritual prepared for this occasion.

Blessings,
Sister Mary

The Archdiocese of San Francisco is currently celebrating being 150 years young and it wouldn't be a proper celebration without the youth of our archdiocese. So, how are we going to celebrate? The Archdiocese is presenting its very own Youth Day: Faith Factor! Held at Saint Mary's Cathedral on October 25th. This special day for high school students will include awesome music and teen-inspired work shops (including a Spanish track) with a whole lot of fun thrown in to make it a memorable celebration. Sign up with some friends and your Youth Ministry and join in the celebration. For more information and a brochure, contact (415) 614-5651 or www.sforeym.org.

Divorce Recovery Couse offered by the Separated and Divorced Catholics of the Archdiocese of San Francisco provides a chance to understand the emotonal journey begun with the loss of a marriage. It will be held October 12th through November 23rd (7 consecutive Sunday evenings). We will meet at St. Stephens Church, O'Reilly Parish Center, 51 Eucalyptus, San Francisco at 7:00 p.m. The cost of $45.00 includes materials. To register or for more information, call Susan at (415) 752-1308 or Vonnie at (650) 873-4236.

The book is available at the library, local bookstores and Amazon. Our next meeting is Tuesday, Sept. 23rd, 7:00 p.m., in the Convent Chapel. If you have any questions please call Colleen Soracco, our club moderator.

SUMMER BULLETINS

Dear Parishioners,

Thank you to all who brought home bulletins from your travels here in The United States and in foreign lands-23 different States and seven foreign countries! Because he was the youngest (Seventh grade) and went almost as far as others (e.g. Japan, Greece, Hungary and New Zealand). I declare John Cuddy the winner of a pound of See's candy. He had a wonderful visit with family in Switzerland. From the bulletins, I learned how vibrant parishes are especially in the South and in the Southwest. By the way, the largest collection listed was from Littleton, Colorado-$41,121 in the middle of July, I'm jealous. Keep the bulletins coming.
