Easter Sunday

Dear Parishioners,

CHRIST HAS DIED
CHRIST IS RISEN
CHRIST WILL COME AGAIN

As we celebrate Easter, we join with all people of our world, be they Christian, Muslim or Jewish, in praying to the one true God for peace in our world. As Archbishop Oscar Romero, the great martyr of El Salvador, once wrote:

Peace is not the product of error or fear.
Peace is not the silence of cemeteries.
Peace is not the silent result of violent repression.
Peace is the generous, tranquil contribution of all to the good for all.
Peace is dynamism.
Peace is generosity.
It is right and duty.

It is this type of peace that we pray will come to Iraq because of the willingness of others to risk their lives for the good of all. Let us pray during this Easter Season that each of us will be willing to make sacrifices, of our wealth, of our time, of our talents, to bring peace and justice to the people not only of Iraq but to people of our own community.

May God bless you and your family.
Father Ring

PRAYER FOR THE MEN AND WOMEN IN THE ARMED SERVICES

Heavenly Father,
Bless and protect all who serve the cause of peace. Bring them home safely to their loved ones. Bless with compassion and love all the victims of war. Receive into your loving arms all who have died. Console and comfort their families. We pray too for the people of Iraq, who suffer from fear, hunger and thrist. Help us to provide for them compassionately.

Holy Spirit,
Enlighten the minds of all world leaders. Direct them toward an end to all hatred, violence, terrorism and war. Grant us a world with a just and lasting peace.

With Confidence and Faith, we pray through Christ, Our Lord.

Amen

An Easter Litany

Happy Easter, everyone! There are many people to who deserve great thanks for our Holy Week and Easter celebrations. As with all of our big parish events, these liturgies have shown the fruit of hours and hours of preparation. Let us give thanks to the Risen Lord of Life for:

Fr. Ring, Fr. Tom, and Fr. Marini, our parish priests, for presiding and preaching throughout the week. It's a responsibility requiring a lot of energy that we often take for granted. Thank you, Fathers!

Thank you Kevin Imbimbo and the Choir for beautiful, powerful, inspiring music. Your musical gifts are precious to us! Special thanks go to Regina Gonnella and Cathy Fama for their music library assistance. Thanks to Manny Ortiz and the Fil-Am Choir and Aura Baldomero and the Children's Choir for Easter Sunday glories. Last but not least, a musical fanfare for cantors Sue Keyser, David Martin, Jim Kason, and Sandra Nelson. Thank you in four-part harmony!!

Thank you to all of our lectors, altar servers, eucharistic ministers, ushers, and "Martha's" for extra service throughout the week.

Special thanks go to a daughter of St. Robert's, Professor Jean Molesky-Poz, for her poignant reflections during Stations of the Cross on Friday. Also, thanks to her daughter, Joanna Poz-Molesky, for her beautiful dancing.

Thank you to Tom Dachauer, Una Uniacke, Theresa MacNaughton, and Marc Howes and our Holy Saturday volunteers for Lenten and Easter art and environment in the church. The church looks great!

Special thanks to Kathy Hanley, Judy DeMartini, and Lilo Quintana for invaluable help in the Parish Office. A big THANK YOU! to Gene and Anna May May for taking care of all the things I forget to do and to MaryAnn Saisi and the Children's Liturgy team for special work on Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, and Good Friday.

Thank you to R.C.I.A. coordinators Donna McGuigan and Deacon Rusty Duffey and the R.C.I.A team, Rita Tullius, Mary Bourne, and Michelle Blumenthal. And congratulations to newly baptized members of our community, Matt Rudnick and Colleen Soracco! You are a sign to us of the life of our Church!

Thank you to each and every parishioner who joined in prayer at church or at home. When we pray and sing together, Christ, Risen in glory, is present.

My apologies if I have omitted anyone! We will have more Easter thank-you's next week.

Pat Vallez-Kelly

P.S. Please keep in prayer this week the 65 teen Confirmation candidates and R.C.I.A. candidate Keamoe Barreras who will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation with Archbishop Levada at St. Robert's this Saturday at 10:30am. They have been preparing for a long time for this important day. May the Holy Spirit empower them and all of us to be greater witnesses of Christian love for the world.

In addition to the Easter Baskets for the younger chidlren, older children received a "Target Money Order" of $25.00, while each family received bags of food: pasta and cereal and scrip for Lunardi's in $25.00 amounts.

These "muscular" volunteers consisted of Bruce & Sophia Chester, Wally & Pat Mooney, Carlo & Marie Noce, Bill & Nancy Curtis, Gerry Huddleston, Janet Aldinger, Sandy Mangold, Agnes Doherty, Jesi Mifsud, Nancy McMahon, Bill Root and June Jackson.
