Dear Parishioners,

Faithful to his mission as a prophet, Isaiah bids us to listen attentively:

Thus says the Lord,
          Remember not the events of the past,
                   the things of long ago consider not;
          see, I am doing something new!

I can almost hear my mom's sage advice echoing in my ears, "Don't dwell on it!" So often I tend to `beat myself up' over mistakes long past - and my mom would gently admonish me not to stay there. "Remember not the events of the past..." says the Lord. How often in our lives do we `hold onto' the misdeeds of the past - but how often it is the Lord Himself who bids us to acknowledge our need for conversion of mind and heart - and then move on in Him.

After all we don't have the time to dwell on the past - for the Lord is doing something new! We have a purpose, a mission, and to hang onto the past in an obsessive way stifles our freedom to embrace what God calls us to. After all, we are a people "...formed for myself, that they might announce my praise".

Don't dwell on it!" Let us trust the God who forgives, who heals, who sets us free. Let us trust the God who forms us into a people called to sing His praise. Let us trust this God who makes of us a new creation, by the grace of the out-poured Spirit, in Christ Jesus the Lord.

Fr. Tom Hamilton

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

We are living in uncertain and worrisome times. We may feel helpless and confused about how to bring peace to our world. At times like these, the only place to turn is to Jesus, Prince of Peace. We have the opportunity to sit before Him in His Blessed Sacrament on Saturday, March 1st, and the first Saturday of each month. Between 9 am and 10 am (following the 8:30 am Mass), we celebrate Eucharistic Adoration in our Church. All are welcome. Jesus is waiting!

LEGION OF MARY NEEDS YOU

At St. Robert's Parish, a group of committed parishioners, under the leadership of Mary Mediatrix of all graces, have formed themselves into a legion of service to the parish community. These dedicated Legionares devote a part of their time attending Tuesday evening meetings for prayers, and active cooperation and participation visting the sick parishioners who are homebound and in convalescent and boarding care homes.

Please join the Legion of Mary, and show your unconditional love to Mary by reaching out to the people you care. Please call Manny Ortiz, President, Legion of Mary.

LENTEN INVITATION

It's hard to believe that Lent will be here on March 5th. Listed are some opportunities to deepen our faith experience as we journey to Easter. Lent is a time to scrutinize and improve our relationship with God. Toward this end, as we journey through Lent toward our Easter celebration, I would like to invite you to participate in a small faith-sharing group.

We will be using as a guide a publication called, Crossroads to Easterlife. This publication is based on the Gospel passages for this Lenten season. In order to have enough booklets available, please contact me if you think you might want to participate. I'm planning a short introductory meeting on Tuesday, March 4th, at 7:00 p.m. in Mary's chapel in the Church. Regular meetings will be on Tuesday nights during Lent from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Please call if you have any questions or comments.

I can be reached at deaconduffey@saintroberts.org or by calling the rectory at (650) 589-2800.
