Dear Parishioners,

Christmas Thank you

Once again the people of St. Roberts have been extremely generous. We received more this year than ever before. You donated over six hundred toys and articles of clothing and there was in excess of $500 in gift certificates.

Some of the gifts were given to ACRA in San Mateo. That is an organization which helps children and adults infected or affected by aids. Adult clothing and all the gift certificates were donated to San Bruno Catholic Worker House to distribute to the needy families and homeless people that they minister to in San Bruno.

We usually stay within San Mateo County but this year we received an urgent call from Operation Dignity, an organization in Oakland ministering to homeless families. We were able to fill their needs. As you can see your overwhelming generosity brought joy to many this Christmas. Thank you.

Special thanks to Ben Baldonado and Bob Baker. Bob picked up the gifts from church daily and stored them in his house. They sorted and counted all the items and Ben delivered the items to all who needed them. Believe me that is quite a job. Again, special thanks to all who contributed to the “Giving Tree”.

"Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest awhile." Mark 6:31

The RCIA group and team leaders will be on retreat together this weekend at Mercy Center. We ask our St. Robert’s community for your prayers as our candidates and catechumens deepen their relationship with our Lord in preparation to receive the Sacraments of Initiation; Baptism, Confirmation and First Eucharist.

Consider "retreating" for a moment or two yourself this weekend.

A deep breath,
A moment of silence,
A look at the sky,
A quiet walk.

All opportunities to listen to God and feel His warmth. We thank you for your continued prayers.

ANNUAL WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY
CELEBRATED FROM JANUARY 18TH-25TH

This week helps parishes to understand the importance and the need for a spirit of unity, a spirit of harmony, a spirit of cooperation. Ecumenism aims to create peace and harmony among all Christians. We should also be doing that within the Catholic Church. We should speak well of one another - show that we are ‘catholic,’ universal, be inclusive within the whole Christian family. Daily prayers for the week are available at www.geii.org. One suggested prayer is:

O God, holy and eternal Trinity,
we pray for your church in the world.
Sanctify its life;
renew its worship;
empower its witness;
heal its divisions;
make visible its unity.

Lead us, with our brothers and sisters
towards communion in faith,
life and witness so that,
united in one body by the one Spirit,
we may together witness to the |
perfect unity of your love.

Amen
