As we pondered our Parish Lenten theme; "WE ARE ONE BODY, ONE BODY IN CHRIST", we remedied this prayer that we wrote a few years ago:

We, your family of believers, gather this day
|to worship and praise you; to thank you and pray
As we listen to your word, holy Spirit inspire;
our longing hearts, please set on fire.
Transform our gifts of bread and wine,
that they become your body and blood divine.
We offer ourselves; make us one with you
in this sacrifice—-so old, yet ever new.

Together we proclaim Jesus’ death till his return
in the breaking of the bread, our hearts within us burn.
In unison, our voices we raise
with joyful hymns of love and of praise.
We give you thanks for all you do.
As we become Christ’s body too.
All our sorrows and fears, our sins you bear—-
One Body, one life, one Spirit we share.

The moment comes when bread and wine
are now your body and blood divine.
We approach your table with emotions of awe—-
your chosen people, whose presence you draw.

We take and eat your body, Lord;
and drink your cup of blood outpoured.
Our souls you fill with peace and love;
Our spirits soar to heaven above.
As we journey forth from this holy place,
help us bring to others your loving embrace.

READINGS FOR NEXT SUNDAY,
FIRST SUNDAY OF LENT

Genesis 9:8-15; 1 Peter 3:18-22; Mark 1:12-15

IN THE HOUSE OF GOD
"We Are One Body"

Please read our final insert in the bulletin today regarding the changes in our communion procession at the 4:30pm, 9:00am and 10:30am masses.

Today begins the fourth season of RENEW 2000, and with that we begin our look at the Eucharistic Prayer and Communion Rite in the liturgy. As you silently pray the Eucharistic Prayer with the priest, take note of the language we use. How much does the prayer say "I, me, mine," and how much does it say "we, us" and "our"? Even though it is voiced by one person (appropriately so—our priest and presider), the Eucharistic Prayer is very much a communal prayer. - Pat Kelly

*We welcome into the family of God: Richard Pasquet, Joseph Siordia, Nicholas Brouqua, Michael Jensen & Stephanie Shu, who were baptized in Christ.

*We pray for the ill: Tony Coogan, Koret Koelman, Terry McLeod, Adela Florez, Ana Cosgaya, Peter Capodonicco, Rosemary McHale, Arthur Candia, Bastiaan Blumenthal, Muriel Krause, Sister Cabrini, Don Vickery, Jeanne McHugh, Catherine Cook, Ann Burns, Imelda Daly, Margarita Velez, Marky, Marlyn Arancibia, Marcia Bourne, Sandra Dill, Randall Guerro, Denise Hawald, Cyndy Smerdel, Theresa Cook, Marina Buhain, Anthony Arrahoo & Rita Gomez.

As a Parish Community, We Pray

On this Sabbath Day, as we commission facilitators of faith-sharing groups, may the Holy Spirit grant healing and reconciliation to all who participate in Renew 2000.

Our sincere sympathy to the family of
GUSTAF GOETHALS
who recently passed away.
