Dear Parish Family,

Thank you for your great generosity to the Parish this Christmas. The Christmas and Easter collections are a major source of our operating budget each year. Thank you.

Thank you also to all who help make our Christmas Season so special - the musicians, those who decorated the Church, the ministers of the altar and a special thanks to Pat Kelly for making everything come together.

Thank you to those who sent Christmas cards and presents to the Parish office and to the priests- speaking for myself only, we need to cut back on candy and cookies!

Congratulations to the IN-BETWEENERS for the great Dinner Dance on New Year’s Eve. It was the best ever.

I am happy to say that during the vacation break of the school we were able to paint over the fractures in the paint that had grown worse over the past year. The building was painted in 1991 and will need a whole new paint job in 2001.

I am sorry to say that we are having problems with our heating system in the Church. The boiler works but the radiant heating does not - just like 3Com park. Despite what one or two have told me, I did not cause this. We are trying our best with the help of able people.

Sincerely,
Father Ring

We were talking about what it means to us to "Open Wide the Doors to Christ" — our Jubilee Year 2000 theme.

If we open our hearts to Him and invite Him in, Jesus has promised that He, Our Father and their Holy Spirit, will come to make their home within us. Filled with our God, His love overflows and reaches out to all with whom we come in contact. We spontaneously and joyfully live and give our love — His love.

Holding open a door for the person behind us — letting someone ahead of us in the check-out line — a smile — a friendly "hello" — a hug — listening to someone who is hurting— never being too busy to be Jesus to members of our family, our co-workers, neighbors, fellow-parishioners. These small acts of kindness may seem insignificant; but they are all that Jesus asks of us — "Love one another as I have loved you". God loves you and so do we.

LOVE LIFE AND LIVE LOVE,
Gene and Anna May

JUBILEE BLESSINGS THIS WEEK TO:
MIGRANTS AND REFUGEES

READINGS FOR NEXT SUNDAY
1 Samuel 3:3-10,19; 1 Corinthians 6:13-20; John 1:35-42

IN THE HOUSE OF GOD
"Jubilee Blessings"

During the Jubilee Year, we intend to have a special blessing for a specific group of people each week. (You can see from above that this week we are praying for migrants and refugees. We have many immigrant people here at St. Robert’s!) The officially designated Jubilee Days for these groups are on various days of the week, as you may be able to see from your church calendar, but we will observe them on Sundays when we are all gathered together. I invite you to join in prayer each week for the people named as a way of opening wide our hearts to Christ in all the people of the world. - Pat Kelly

*We pray for the ill: Tony Coogan, Koret Koelman, Terry McLeod, Adela Florez, Ana Cosgaya, Peter Capodonicco, Rosemary McHale, Arthur Candia, Bastiaan Blumenthal, Muriel Krause, Sister Cabrini, Don Vickery, Jeanne McHugh, Catherine Cook, Ann Burns, Imelda Daly, Margarita Velez, Marky, Marlyn Arancibia, Marcia Bourne, Sandra Dill, & Randall Guerro.

Special prayers are requested in the coming weeks for Cyndy Smerdel
who has been diagnosed with cancer.

We welcome into the family of God: Katelien Blumenthal who was baptized in Christ.

As a Parish Community, We Pray

For all who have been baptized. May God, our Father, say to us as He did to Jesus ... "You are my beloved son or daughter in whom I am well pleased".

EMERGENCY PRAYER NETWORK

The Emergency Prayer Network continues to pray for specific problems that require a concerted effort due to their critical nature. To facilitate the network, please call Michele Pipinich. The network then prays frequently for the next 72 hours. We would appreciate a return call with the outcome so we can praise God for His faithfulness.

RECYCLE YOUR CHRISTMAS CARDS

Give your Christmas cards and all greeting cards new life. Send the fronts of the cards to:

St.Jude’s Ranch for Children
100 St. Jude St.
Boulder City NV 89005

Proceeds from the cards the children make will be used for outings they cannot otherwise afford.

THE FIRST CHRISTMAS

If on the first Christmas,
the three wise men had been women,
they would have asked for directions,
arrived on time,
cleaned the stable,
helped deliver the baby,
made a casserole
and brought practical gifts.

AIDS LUNCH - WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 12TH

It is our pleasure again to assist the San Mateo county Aids Clinic with their lunch program. We are scheduled for the 2nd Wednesday of each month. If you can prepare a favorite cookie, snack or lunch item for 10 to 12 people, please drop it off at the children’s chapel, in the back of church, by 9:15AM on January 12th. Please pack the items in a non-returnable container. Frozen items can be donated; they will be saved for a day when no other food is provided. Once again, thanks for all your help - it’s much appreciated.

CONFIRMATION GATHERING

This Sunday, Jan. 9th the Confirmation Candidates and their sponsors will meet for class in Hennessy Hall followed by attendance at 5:30 p.m. liturgy.
