Easter Sunday

Dear Parishioners,

This ancient Easter hymn summarizes well our Christian belief in regard to the Resurrection of Jesus.

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
The strife is o’er, the battle done,
Now is the victor’s triumph won.
O let the song of praise be sung,
Alleluia!

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
On the third morn he rose again,
Glorious in majesty to reign.
O let us swell the joyful strain,
Allelluia!

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
O risen Lord, all praise to thee,
Who from our sin has set us free.
That we may live eternally,
Alleluia!

As we follow in the footsteps of Jesus, we follow Him in His passion, death and resurrection. We are called to overcome the presence of sin not only in our own lives but in the world around us. We are called to die to self so that we can participate in the Resurrection on the last day. We are to bring the saving message of Jesus to our society.

During this Easter Season, let us pray for each other that we might grow in our Faith and that we might put it into practice in our daily lives.

Sincerely,
Fr. Ring

CHRIST IS RISEN!

The return of Easter should be to the Christian life the call of the trumpet. It is the news of a great victory. It is the solution of a great perplexity. It is the assurance of a great triumph.

Our Lord has written the promise of the Resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime.

    A CHANCE TO SERVE

The Parish Council advises Fr. Ring in the long range planning for our Parish. If you would like to have an impact on the future direction of St. Robert’s, consider running for the Parish Council. Three seats will be available for the three-year term starting this fall and one seat for a two-year term. Elections are planned for the weekend of May 16-17. Applications are available in the vestibule of the church, from any Parish council member, or at the Parish Office. Gary DeMartini.

THE SEEDS OF ETERNITY ARE SOWN IN OUR LIVES

I shall not die, but I shall live, and recount the deeds of the Lord. The Lord has punished me severely, but he did not give me over to death. Psalm 118:17-18.

Our short lives on earth are sowing time. If there were no resurrection of the dead, everything we live on earth would come to nothing. How can we believe in a God who loves us unconditionally if all the joys and pains of our lives are in vain, vanishing in the earth with our mortal flesh and bones? Because God loves us unconditionally, from eternity to eternity, God cannot allow our bodies—the same as that in which Jesus, his Son and our Savior, appeared to us—to be lost in final destruction.

No, life on earth is the time when the seeds of the risen body are planted. Paul says, "What is sown is perishable, what is raised is imperishable. It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. It is sown a physical body, it is raised a spiritual body." (1 Corinthians 15:42-44).

This wonderful knowledge that nothing we live in our bodies is lived in vain holds a call for us to live every moment as a seed of eternity.
